Good things about South Central are the kinds of people that live here. Another good thing is the places around here that you can visit.Something that can improve about South Central is the trash on the streets. I like living in South Central. The three most important events that have had the greatest impact on making South Central, LA what it is today are The LA Riots, Gang History, and Crack Epidemics.
The first event that made South Central what it is today were the LA riots. It is important because if the riots wouldn’t of happened the police would still be beating us today. The riots started on April 29, 1992 and lasted for 5 days leaving 53 dead and $1 billion dollars in damages.Riots also occured in San Francisco, Oakland, Las Vegas, Seattle, and Chicago. I chose this topic because it really caught my attention and it gave us more freedom from the police and government.
The second event that made South Central what it is today is the Gang History. The first gangs were for protection against the whites. Then gangs started to go down after the Black Panthers and Brown Berets came in control. After the two groups were destroyed by the COINTELPRO the crips, bloods, and 18th street were born. This is important because it explains why the gangs are here today. I chose this topic because it was interesting and it had alot to do with South Central.
The third event that had a great impact on what South Central is today was the Crack Epidemics. This is important because it destroyed alot of families and it supplied the war in Nicaragua that the U.S was having against the communist in the country. Crack cocaine was sold in the ghettos of the U.S illegally by the C.I.A to supply their soldiers in Nicaragua. The Crack affected alot of families and left alot of people living in the streets because of the lack of money. One of the biggest Crack dealers during this time was Freeway Ricky Ross but was set up by the government and put into prison. I chose this topic because crack messed up alot of things in South Central and alot of people are still suffering because of this.
In conclusion these are the three events that I think shaped South Central on how it is today. The LA riots, Gang History, and Crack Epidemics all happened long ago but they were all major events that both helped South Central and hurt it as well. I don’t really think South Central will change alot. If South Central were to change in the future I believe it will have less trash in the streets and less gang violence on the streets.
Carlos Montes came from Juarez, Mexico. He was the founder of the brown berets. One of his accomplishments was he exposed police brutality against the Latinos.
The Crack Epidemics and Early history of LA seem to be interesting for me. i would like to study on the riots and why its called the ghetto.
Something that entertains or grabs attention is good. Three things are the colors, pictures, and content. To much stuff makes it bad. The website is messy and is all bunched up. I will try to make it cool and not all messy.
